Creepy & Cute Pixel Plushy Craft
A little browser game with dress-up mechanics made in a few days for the
Girly Game Jam.
The Theme: Opposites Attract
Creepy + Cute:
As somebody who enjoys both creepy and cute things, I very quickly had the idea of mashing these two opposing aesthetics after reading the theme of "Opposites Attract". And for gameplay, that didn't take long to decide either. I've been wanting to try to make something in this genre for a while. It came out a little jank, but I think it's decent considering the time I had. And besides that, I learned a few things in creating this and got to make something cutesy, girly, and just a bit weird. I'm satisfied.
-------------------------------------
What it features: 80 pieces to customize with, a basic drawing feature, 10 backgrounds, and 5 base plushy bodies to choose from
-------------------------------------
Controls:
Squared Icons and arrows, predominately white and yellow, indicate interactive elements which will highlight when hovered over.
The accessories and faces have the option of going both forward and backward due to there being 40 options each. The lists for body and backdrop selections only scroll forward.
When you confirm your selection for an accessory or face by clicking the check button, that object will appear on the plush. You can adjust its position by clicking and dragging. The facial areas for each body are roughly the same in size and position, but switching bodies will likely necessitate readjustments.
Selected objects will be highlighted with a yellow border. Items will remain highlighted even when dropped until deselected.
Snapshot mode is underdeveloped. Currently, it's just for funsies. To save a picture, you will need to do so manually.
To create the color you desire, you will need to adjust the levels of Red, Green, and Blue separately using the sliders. Full strength for each equates to white, and the inverse creates black.
Volume is also adjusted with sliders.
-----------------------------------
Bugs I'm aware of:
-Selecting stacked objects can be difficult and, for some reason, the face is prioritized when making selections. The collisions also feel off.
-The certificate-isque thing at the end doesn't save an image to the desktop as I intended. Still a cutesy flare at the end of creation, I suppose. And you can take your own screenshot if you'd like.
-Very occasional random button presses
