Chickpea's Mini Quest for Cake
This is a tiny 64x64 puzzle platformer made for LowRezJam 2024.
Summary:
You will play as a bombastic chicken lady named Chickpea who is on a quest for cake (the kind you eat). Specifically, she's out for creamy white cake found in inexplicably heavily fortified places, so she's employing the scorched-earth method to get it. How's cake end up in bases guarded by walls of lasers, spiked floors, otherworldly one-eyed abominations, and Tim the turtle anyway? The writer never bothered to make an explanation. It's a game. Get cake and blow s!@t up!
- This game is about half action, half puzzle with the use of eggs being integral to the puzzle platforming which serve as both your weapons and makeshift platforms.

The Themes:
This game is loosely inspired by 3 of the optional themes:
Unconventional Weapon
You're shooting eggs, which we'll say are unfertilized.
You Are The Environment
The eggs are used for platforming. I swear you aren't using your unborn children as stepping stones.
Self-Destruction For Gain
You blow up the eggs. I would like to reiterate, they're unfertilized!

Love the concept and the character, it's just too short!
Hope to see more of Chickpea someday!
You're such a joy to watch! You're one of the most adorable PNGtubers I've seen, and your commentary made me smile the whole way through. Your compliments made me feel so good inside, and of course I appreciated your critiques too. I'll keep all your comments in mind if I do expand upon this idea. To be honest, I didn't think I'd be coming back to this game. But you're right, it's woefully short. It was made in just a couple of weeks, after all. You've inspired me to at least consider revisiting Chickpea.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that!
I'll definitely check out your other games sometime!
Great job on another fun little game. By far the most fun egg based game I have ever played in my life.
Thanks! I had more fun making a game based on eggs than I thought I would
Cute and fun puzzle platforming!! I love the cake eating animation too 😂
Thanks! I love that animation too. It made me giggle a lot during development 😄
really cool puzzle platformer, i really liked how you can stick the eggs to spikes to use as platforms that’s a very clever mechanic.
Also like the main character’s design and her sprite rendition in very low res is quite well done as well ^^
Thanks! I'm happy you had fun with it. And I'm glad you like Chickpea too. This is my first time creating an avian character
No problem, the game is fun, and for a first time drawing this type of chara, she looks cool :)
What a great game! Really polished and inventive. Is there any chance of adding gamepad support?
Thanks for the compliments! And thanks for reminding me about gamepad support. I meant to add that originally. I just made a small update that gives partial support that only seems to work on the downloaded versions.
