Character Drafter

A small print-and-play game originally made for the 24-word RPG Jam in which you draft a character with friends that can be summarized in just 24 words.

Intro:

As an artist, I find the most joy in designing characters and I think it's made more enjoyable with friends. Whether that be drawing alongside them or involving them in the creative process. I never would've drawn some of my favorite characters if it wasn't for their suggestions. So I've created a game that lets players design a character together in a way that encourages challenging one another.  It's a simple game but versatile. It can be used for a serious concept-making session or just dumb fun.

The game in 24 words:

- Draw one element of the character and pass it off to another artist once you're done and decide what element they MUST draw next. -

Elements:

There are 3 sheets labeled Elements that contain 270 tiny illustrations and symbols to choose from ( 90 each ). The bottom row of each page is left blank for you to fill in with 10 of your own element icons that tie into the theme of the page. An entirely blank page is also included if you're up for drawing 100 icons that follow a theme of your choosing. Keep in mind that the element icons are not always meant to be literal. Feel free to interpret any icon abstractly. Or you may forgo the icons altogether and come up with elements on the spot.

If you're the first artist you may choose your own element or decide with the group.

Don't feel like you can't play this if you don't consider yourself an artist. It's all for fun.

I started this project after joining the 24-word RPG Jam that challenges designers to make a tabletop game using just 24 words. Making a system with such strict limitations ended up being more difficult than I thought so I devised this game instead. This is still somewhat in the spirit of the jam since it can be described in 24 words but according to their rules, the elements count as their own words putting it well over 24. I could've left them out but I had hundreds of these little illustrations from a dead project I wanted to do something with and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.
