Stellar Noel: Through the Walls and Under the Tree

A short, goofy 3D Platformer made for a 90s era themed jam named 32BitJam Winter 2024. In this retro-inspired game, you will play as an air headed alien named Stella, tasked by Santa himself to deliver presents to all the good boys and girls in Slumbering Pines. Unfortunately for those awaiting their gifts there, Stella doesn't understand subtlety or the purpose of walls. To her, they're just an obstacle.

The Theme of the Jam: Cracks in the Foundation

" The cabins in Slumbering Pines sure have some shoddy craftsmanship. Cracks in the foundation everywhere! What if some ditsy alien hypothetically named Stella were to come along with her BeamTrax 5000, equipped with a state of the art TracLock Beam System, and hurl gifts at them using its ForceLink Precision feature... ? That'd be terrible! "

Content Warning: A little adult humor with references to drug addiction, sex, and one naughty word that Santa says a lot.

My commentary:

This is the first 3D game I've worked on in about 4 years, and the first one I've published on itch. When I spotted a PS1 era themed jam, I figured now would be a good time to try my hand at 3D again because rather than own up to my mistakes, I can simply say: "It ain't jank, it's retro." I also liked the idea of doing low-poly because it's low effort, compared to what I used to model. That being said, I did put effort into this! At least, a lot more than I expected to.

Shoutout to Blockbench, the program I used to make the models. It's a little jank along with the retro charm. I recommend it if you're looking for an easy-to-use program to create low fidelity models.
