A game created in 4 days for:

Pizza Jam (✨Pizza Prize!✨)

Based on the film title: Sweating Bullets

You will be playing as a blockheaded water mage named Ella who, while dense, is very resourceful. Finding herself trapped inside a volcano faced against a molten eidolon, a manifestation of heat itself, she uses the only source of water she has to fight it... her sweat.

For this game jam, the theme was to be chosen by me from a list of 15. Each choice is based on the name of a canceled Disney Film. For my game, I had chosen "Sweating Bullets". I figured I could make a shmup with a unique reloading mechanic.

Controls:

| W or Space | to propel upward using sweat

| A, D | to move left and right

arrow keys for alternate controls ( but please don't )

| Left Click | to shoot sweat bullets

| Right Click | to drop a sweat bomb

| ESC or P | to pause the game

How to Play:

The goal is to kill the molten eidolon at the bottom of the screen.

Shooting uses up sweat and the amount that you have is shown in the top-left corner of the screen as a blue bar. Next to it is a thermometer.

The thermometer represents how hot Ella is. The hotter she is the more she sweats. The bottom of the screen is the hottest point because that's where the source of the heat is. The top of the screen is the coolest point. 

The rate at which Ella replenishes sweat depends on how hot she is.

Hovering also uses up sweat but very slightly. It's only noticeable when hovering at the top of the screen. But no matter where you're at on the screen it will slow the rate at which Ella replenishes sweat. Rest on platforms to replenish it more quickly.

Platforms with an up arrow can be jumped through. Orange platforms move side to side. Clouds will disappear 1 second after being touched.

Watch for crates floating downward. Destroying them will restore 1 HP. If you let them get too close to the eidolon, he will destroy them instead and you get nothing.

It's also bad if Ella touches the eidolon herself. That will subtract 1 HP so don't hover too close. Coming in contact with his minions will also subtract 1 HP. 

You're timed. When the clock in the top-right corner goes down to 0 you will lose. To make sure it doesn't reach 0 you can kill minions. Minions that fly upward grant 1 second and those that track the player grant 2. It's not much but it will stack very quickly when several enemies are on screen.

This might seem like a lot but it feels a lot more simple when you're actually playing the game.
